How does your garden grow?

Well friends I haven't had a lot of time to do any blogging lately as I've been very busy in the greenhouse and garden. I don't know if I've mentioned it before but my hubby and I have been growing flowers and gardening for the past few years. This year was "the" year to sell some flowers that we have propagated, so for the past few weeks we have been going to the local "Farmers Market" in a town about 15 miles from us to sell them. It was a slow start but things have started getting better. We've sold Tulips, Irises, and Loblolly Pines. This week we have Shasta Daisies, Torch Lilies, Liriope grass and some vegetables that we've gotten started in our greenhouse.....cucumbers, squash, zucchini and luffah. Yes I've been really busy and it's been especially hard on me because I can only do a little at a time and then I'm not good for anything for awhile. Boo Hoo! So enough of that.

I have however been trying to blog hop as much as possible because you all give me such inspiration and instruction. I haven't had time to do a lot of posting on your blogs but rest assured I have been reading and learning all I can.

Weekend after next we're going to go to a Gourd Festival in Missouri. It's a two day event in Sedalia, MO. We're hoping to learn a lot about Gourd Art while there. Gourds are another thing that we've planted. My hubby is quite the artist though he won't admit it and I would like to give a go at gourd painting. The festival that we are going to has classes on all types of gourd art. I think it will really be fun. I've been assured that there will be plenty of places where I can sit down. I plan on taking my camera with me and getting as many pictures as possible. In the meantime whenever I'm at the Farmers Market or at home in the evening, I'm crocheting my little heart out! I'll be posting some more pictures of crochet projects I've completed soon.

Happy crocheting!
Barbara

Wow, it sounds like you have really been a busy beaver! I think selling things at the Farmers' Market would be a lot of fun. Hope your success continues. The Gourd Art festival sounds neat, also. My MIL is a master gardener and has grown gourds and loufahs. I remember some gourds she painted to look like a little Santa family. Some people have all the talent. Can't wait to see your pictures!

Hi Barbara! I DO understand the work behind selling your flowers.. I've worked on farms, so I'm familiar; but still it sounds like fun! I miss the Farmer's Market that used to come right to my neighborhood. I guess business must not have been worth it to them, because last year they stopped coming! I never did hear of any reasons why specifically. I was just spoiled, having them so close. I LOVED walking there on a beautiful day, with my little crochet shopping bag/tote to pick up whatever!.. vegies, fruits, flowers, and crafts! I miss that!

Glad to finally hear from you Barbara.....missed hearing from you ;o)
Oh do I ever miss the REAL Farmer's Markets. I remember when I was a little girl you could actually buy live chickens at ours, where I grew up.....We normally go to gourd festivals in the Fall.
Bet you will have a lot of fun over the weekend!

Have fun on your trip Barbara and do take a walking cane with a seat so you can sit down if you need to. I do understand the Farmer's market busyness because I was at one in Great Falls Montana selling soaps a few years ago. I can no longer make or sell soaps. I'm glad you are busy crocheting! I am too and piling up the patterns! LOL Have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing your photos!

You only need to blog when you want to and when yo have time. I often have quite a while between posts. There are some days when I simply have nothing very interesting to say! There is an award for you on my blog.

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the garden. The yarn is simple R.H from Walmart Primary color. I usually use better but this was a tester for an idea I had. Hope to post soon and then make one with my home dyed yarn.

Signed up to follow and grab you button. Sure hope to make your blogroll.
