Today’s Creative Paperclay® Tip:

 

I had a question about what I used to color the paperclay in the last project that I created. Here’s the tip: I used Primary Elements (pigment powders) from Luminarte.

 

Since it’s a powder it blends easily with the paperclay plus you can wash it off your hands with soap and water. There are many colors to choose from which would make it very easy to use and then you don’t have to buy several different colors of another clay. Creative Paperclay® is a terrific product to work with!

Having a little fun with Creative Paperclay®, Delight Clay!

 

I’ve been wanting to try doing some simple figures using Creative Paperclay, Delight Clay. Delight Clay is different than Creative Paperclay@ in that it’s whiter and it’s lighter. Delight Clay is also safe  for children to use and with Summer you may want to have some fun creative time with the children.  I started out by coloring the clay and dividing it into pieces for different parts of the rabbit that I decided to do.

            I shaped and put pieces together until I had this:

                          I then got busy with the other colored clay that I used adding features to the rabbit.

                       How do you like my finished rabbit? I’m going to make some other animals too, now that I’ve got the hang of it, plus I’ve got a book on polymer clay people that I do believe I can use Delight Clay or Creative Paperclay® instead of now that I know how to color it. I just love this stuff! There are just soooo many ways to use it.  By using simple shapes, even children can get in on the act of creating with clay.

Sakura Hobby Craft & Terri Sproul Mixers redo a cheese container!

 

Our oldest son and daughter-in-law were just here for a  week before the son leaves for a year’s tour of Afghanistan. When they got here my daughter-in-law emptied a container that had little wrapped cheeses in it. I thought that was an unusual shape and that I could make something with it so I asked her for it. Here’s what the original container looked like:

Nothing especially fancy about it now was there? LOL I started out by mixing some Gold TS mixers with the Sakura Crystal Lacquer and applying several coats to the inside of the container. That looked ever so much prettier in person, but you can see that it really looks nice. The lacquer on the inside of the container gave it a lot more stability too. I then used some Faded and Worn scrapbook paper on the outside of the container. I used the lacquer as a glue to hold the paper to the container and then covered the paper with the lacquer to seal it. Now the container had a lot of stability and didn’t resemble that cheese container at all!

Once everything was dry (which didn’t take very long at all) I embellished the piece with some stick-ons and also with a tag holder in which I added the word “Believe”. I thought this container turned out with a masculine feel to it which is what I had hoped for. I think it would make a nice little container for holding little manly things in, what do you think?

      

Father’s Day is coming up you know! This wasn’t hard to do and the mixers and lacquer are very easy to work with.

A Neat Redo on a Terra Cotta Wine Cooler

Yes I do mean a neat redo! I went to Hobby Lobby a while back and they were trying to get sell a bunch of Terra Cotta Wine Coolers that they had been using to hold there florals. They had changed out the whole department and were selling the coolers for $1 a piece. Score!! I bought four because I thought once they were fixed up in some way that they would make a cool gift. Here’s the beginning:
 The coolers were a little scratched up and needed something on the outside. So………. I painted the top of the cooler with paints and then got busy mixing up some Sakura Crystal Lacquerhttp://www.sakuracraft.com/ with Bronze Pearl Effects Terri Sproul Mixershttp://www.sakuracraft.com/. Wow, isn’t this just yummy looking? Well you know me, I couldn’t just leave things like that so I mixed up some Sakura Crystal Lacquerhttp://www.sakuracraft.com/ with Violet Pearl TS Mixers and also mixed up my own version of Green Pearl by using Citrine Pearl and Tanzanite Blue Pearl Terri Sproul Mixershttp://www.sakuracraft.com/. Then I added some grapes and leaves to the sides of the Wine Cooler and look at this:
                                          
Oh my goodness doesn’t that just look super? I love how this project turned out and I think this wine cooler will make a fantastic gift for someone don’t you? FORK AND TALK EVENT FOR 2012

 

I have got to start off by thanking EK Success for sponsoring this wonderful event!! I’m sure some of you were following me last year and read about me going to Little Rock, AR to the first ever Fork and Talk event, but for those of you who don’t know and for those who do I want to say it just keeps getting better and better!! The requirements for attending the event are that you have to have a blog and blog about the event after you get back home.

There were twenty women who attended the event last year and the same amount this year. We started off the event by getting to know each other. There were ladies there from Arkansas of course but there were also a few from out of state. It was a great time of fellowship with other women who were bloggers and crafty and creative. One of the fun things that we all did together was a makeover of the Craftgossip Editor who was sitting at our table. Our table had Scarlett Burroughs who is the Quilting Editor for Craftgossip. I’ve got to say our table WON again! Scarlett is the second lady from the right. She’s very pretty and very tolerant of us making her over, or at least making a picture of her over. The particular thing that got us the win was the tiny plastic “fork” earrings that we put on her. LOL All of the people at the winning table got to pick a gift from a table in the front of the room. I just wasn’t fast enough to grab this beautiful table cover that’s around 50 years old. :0(

  But I was able to grab a wonderful pillow kit that involves crewel embroidery. It would make a terrific gift for yourself or someone else. EK Success was just so generous again this year and we all came away from the event with lots and lots of crafty goodies and a lasting remembrance of a great time with friends. We also made a cute to go coffee cup cozie and coaster from a kit that EK Success provided and gave a review on it.

A fun and informative time was had by all and EK Success will be all of our favorite go to company when we need some crafty items and kits.

 I do so hope I get to enjoy the “Fork and Talk” again next year because the food is great and the whole event is just fantastic!

An Unusual Paperweight Made Using Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin!!

 

Sometime ago I picked up a liquid soap dispenser in a thrift store that was shaped like a lady’s shoe. I thought it looked awesome and had the idea that it would also look good as a paperweight! Now wouldn’t that be unusual and quirky perched on your desk at work?

And so the fun begins! First off I mixed equal amounts of Part A and Part B of the Mold Putty. After kneading the putty until it was completely blended, I molded the putty around the shoe as far as it would go. I then repeated the process with more putty and finished molding the shoe.    Looks pretty bad at this point doesn’t it?I then mixed up equal parts of the Amazing Resin and added some blue dye to it. Because the mold is slanted, it took several pours to get the mold completely filled. Once the mold was set up I popped it out of the mold and here it is: How cool is that???? The main reason for the blue is to give the project a colored background. I trimmed up the resin piece and then sprayed it with some Krylon Glitter Blast. Once that was dry I added a few embellishments and here’s the finished project:

The pictures don’t even begin to show just how glittery the Krylon glitter blast is. I was really pleasantly surprised at what an easy job it was to make the mold and pour the resin. I thought I would have resin everywhere because I had to do four small pours to fill the shoe but it was a breeze because the resin sets up so quickly. Here’s some other shots:This paperweight would make a sweet gift for someone but I think I’ll keep this one and now I have a mold to make others! You need to try this stuff, because I know you’ll like it!

I tried out the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers on a couple of other things this time for my project. I started out with a resin butterfly.

I painted my butterfly with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and several colors of the mixers. So easy to do and now with a simple pin back you have a beautiful pin to wear!

          

 

The other thing I used my Sakura Lacquer and Terri Sproul mixers on was a Plaster of Paris picture frame.

          

Using my Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers I used several colors to paint it. The green that was used on this was a green that I created by mixing Tanzanite Blue and Citrine Pearl. You will get the color of green that you like by using the amounts of blue and yellow that you like.I loved how the green turned out on my project. I also used Citrine Pearl, Tanzinite Blue, and Violet Pearl. I thought it turned out very pretty, what about you?

                                                   These products are just wonderful and can be used on soooo many different surfaces! If you’re interested in using a paint and sealer all together then these products are just for you. The possibilities are endless. Just give them a try and see for yourself.

Using Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers on a Gourd!

 

I’ve been working on another gourd using Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul mixers. To begin with I picked out a small Martin Gourd and a pattern of flowers that I thought would look good on it.

                

These flowers were on pyrography paper, so once I decided where I wanted to place them I peeled the back off and stuck it to the gourd. Once I got it situated I wood burned the flowers onto the gourd.

                                        Here’s a close up of the front of the gourd and also the back of the gourd (yep I decided it needed flowers on the back too) once I had finished the wood burning.

          

 

Aren’t they pretty? Both of the flower pictures were on pyrography paper. I enjoy pyrography even though it takes awhile to do. Next I got my Crystal Lacquer out and Red Shimmer Terri Sproul mixers. After mixing the two together to my satisfaction, I took a small paint brush and painted my flowers. For the leaves and stems I mixed Pearl Tanzanite Blue with Pearl Citrine to come up with a green that I liked. I used the small brush and my mixed up green to paint the leaves and stems and this is what it looked like when I finished:

                              

                          

The back of the gourd wasn’t lighter, it’s just the way the light was acting. Don’t you think these colors are amazing? I love this stuff! I’m going to a Gourd Festival in Missouri in two weeks and plan on demonstrating the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers while I’m there. I think this gourd will be traveling with me as just one example of how these wonderful products can be used. One thing that is just really soooo cooool is that once this product dries you don’t have to seal it and you don’t have to worry about it running if you seal the rest of the gourd and the sealer touches it. You really need to purchase some of the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers and give them a try! They can be used on so many different things! If you clean up your brush while it’s still wet, you can do it with water, if you let the Crystal Lacquer dry on your brush (shame on you, lol) you can use fingernail polish remover with acetone to clean it up. Get you some and let the fun begin!!

An Easter Rabbit Trinket Box with Creative Paperclay®

 

One of the things you do when applying for a design team is to make something using the product you want to be on the design team for and post it on your blog to be judged. This is my audition piece. I’ve been on the Creative Paperclay ® design team for awhile now but I can tell you that I still love this air dry clay.  With Easter coming round, I wanted to make a rabbit head.  For this project I used:

Creative Paperclay®

aluminum foil

a styrofoam ball

E6000

paper ribbon

Sakura Crystal Lacquer w/Terri Sproul Mixers

Metallic acrylic paint

Brad eyes

Paper Mache’ Box

I started out by gluing  my aluminum foil rabbit ears onto the styrofoam ball and then covering the ball with Creative Paperclay®.

      

I had to put the clay on the front of the rabbit and let it dry first so that I could hang onto something while I put the clay on the rest of the styrofoam ball.  I inserted the eyes too.

                         

I had to prop it up to keep it from rolling off while the rest of the head dried. Those ears kept making it want to fall over. LOL

While the head was drying this time, I painted the bottom of my paper mache’ box with Crystal Lacquer mixed with the Terri Sproul mixer “Tanzinite Blue” This color turns a green color when painted on a brown box. I painted the lid with Metallic Acrylic Pink. Once the head was completely dry I painted it and glued it onto the box with E6000 and tied my ribbon around that when the glue dried.

 

 

                          

 

I think it turned out terrific don’t you? Creative Paperclay ® is just so much fun to work with. This rabbit could have been made to look like the rabbit in Alice In Wonderland or maybe a Steampunk rabbit, there are many possibilities.

Baby Duckies and Creative Paperclay Delight®

I have been having fun making little duckies today! I also created a small gift/memory box for a baby boy. I happen to have a great-grandson on the way and thought now would be a good time to start making things for him. Smile…… I started out with an ice cube mold that had lots of duckies and filled each one with Delight Clay.

Pretty neat little duckies aren’t they? I covered several of the ducks with yellow paint and they really looked cute. I then took a paper mache’ box and decoupaged some tissue on it. Hmm, didn’t like the way it was looking so I pulled out the trusty Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers and painted the bottom with Aquamarine. The top of the box was painted around the outside with Extreme Glitter Paint and the top had a piece of scrapbooking paper decoupaged on it. I then used some letters to spell out “baby boy” and glued some of my ducks onto the top of the box. I love how it turned out! I think I’m going to use some of the other duckies in my Easter decorating!
   

Creative Paperclay and the Delight Clay are just so easy to use and they are so versatile. What do you think? Do ya think you need to get you some? Hmmm? I think so and give it a try.
